There s tendency when reading series to rate the books gainst each other rather than gainst the world I ve seen it done to my own books I loved XXXX of Thorns but it wasn t s good s YYYY of Thorns so 4I didn t enjoy The Wise Man s Fear s much A Bollywood Affair as I enjoyed The Name of the Wind I didn t enjoy A Dance With Dragonss much s I enjoyed A Game of Thrones But I m giving them ALL 5 because compared to most books I read they re noticeably better I won t 4 this book to make my point that it s for me not s good s its predecessor I ll make that point here With wordsReaders often get confused between the journey the destination nd the story When the reader thinks the story lies The Scent of Rosa's Oil at the end of the journeynd the writer thinks the story IS the journey it can cause tensions between themReading TWMF part of me was lways wanting to get back to the thing where the thing was where my knee jerk tells me the story lies ie making solid progress t the university in order to tackle the Chandrian And that really doesn t happen in this very long book In fact so little happens in that direction that I wonder if Rothfuss might not wholly evade that issue Certainly if he s to conclude the story in three books it seems that Nobodys Angel (Willow Park, a drastic up ing of focusnd pace or 10000 page book would be reuired to deal with Heliax nd friendsSo let s put to one side the fact that if you think the story is bout revenge on the Chandrian then basically nothing happened nd note instead that ll the side dventuring was fun to read Defending Hearts and very well writtenKvothe continues to be brilliantt everything The fact that on one page late on we discover he s not genius level t mathematics hardly balances that he picks up difficult new language makes startling progress t marshal rts nd impresses sex fairy with his sexing even though it s his first timeIf you let go of your destination desires this is n enjoyable book with great prose The story meanders seemingly without direction In fact big chunk of it is Feel the Heat (Phoenix Agency, about Kvothend friends meandering without direction hunting bandits in vast wood The im doesn t feel particularly important protecting tax collectors in Sudden Fury (The Last Gunfighter, a distant land the meat of it doesn t feel very exciting they wander for LONG time Spiky and much of it feels pretty random the sex fairy encounter comes out of nowhere but even so I plain enjoyed reading it we get our little band group dynamics we get story tellinground the camp fire nd each told story is fun bit of fiction in itself It ll sounds bit dull when I lay it out but the deliciousness like the devil is in the detail Dungeon of Death and I kept coming back for In the end we re backt the university nd bugger ll has been Love Rockets accomplished On basic level we re pretty much where we started nd left wondering how this story is going to move forward But on n entirely different level I ve consumed A Deceptive Homecoming (Hattie Davish Mystery, a 1000 page book inn unheard of for me two weeks nd enjoyed pretty much every minute of it So five starsI now t long last join the end of lengthy ueue of people gitating for book 3 Join my 3 emails year newsletter prizes This review is from 2011In case you haven t heard today is the release day of the long waited seuel to The Name of the Wind delightful debut fantasy novel by Patrick Rothfuss I ve had the privilege of reading the book so I thought I d post heads up here for those of you who read my blog long with review Of sorts Also The Hired Man a reminder I didn interview with Pat nd he kind of interviewed me back for You can read it t this link ONE A REVIEW OF THE WISE MAN S FEARAll right so the review of Wise Man s Fear will focus on one uestion Is it s good s the firstThe Almost A Gentleman answer is yesnd I feel that it s uite bit better That is saying lotThere s the review I figure that those of you reading this blog will either1 Have read Name of the Wind nd liked it so that review should be than enough for you2 Have read Name of the Wind nd didn t like it If so I respect your opinion even though you re obviously crazy person3 Haven t yet read Name of the Wind so giving you n extensive review of the second book would really just be big confusing spoilerPART TWO GO BUY ITThis is very very good book If you liked the first might I suggest that you go out nd purchase yourself copy this week Pat may not mention it himself but first week sales Here by the Bloods are very helpful in giving book good momentum It will determine how long the book stays on shelves how good its placement is in weeks to come nd how ggressively the seuel will be ordered by bookstoresAs I lways state for my own books if you re not hardcover buyer don t feel guilty not going out to get it s uthors we like you to consume books s you prefer to consume them Library hardcover ebook paperback your call However if you re intending to read Wise Man s Fear in hardcover buying it early rather than late is lways nice sign for the Bound (Torn Trilogy, author Also I ve got selfish reason for wanting Pat to sell well I d very much like to have nice friendly rivalry going with the chap The Way of Kings hit 7 on the New York Times list If Pat can hit in the top five with this book it will give me something to shoot forHonestly I m hoping he hits 1 It s well within the realm of possibility for this book nd he deserves it It will help the entire genre if this book sells well s it will prove that big epic fantasy books by newer uthors re still viable nd will Loyalty and Lies also prove that excellence will be rewarded by the readershipPART THREE A LONGER REVIEW KIND OFOkay so I m off on tangent gain Let s bring this back into focus I m going to ssume that some of you haven t read Name of the Wind yet I often suggest it to people it s become Fortunes Flames alongside Tigana The Eye of the Worldnd Dragonsbane one of my top recommendations for fantasy readers Often however people sk why they should read the book Why do I recommend itBecause it s wesomeWhy is it wesomeThis often stops me Why is Pat s writing wesomeWell the books have n bsolutely wonderful magic system One part science one part historical pseudoscience one part magical wonder It s the type of magic system that I m lways delighted to read nd ranks mong my favorites in fantasy literature But that lone doesn t describe why the books re wesomeIn many ways Name of the Wind is like Claiming Her an old familiar coat A young man orphanedt young ge Time spent on the streets living s thief nd street rat A wizards school Those who have not liked the book have often complained bout the familiar tropes What I love bout how Pat uses these tropes however is the realism he strives to impartI view this story like Batman Begins type realism reboot of many classic fantasy tropes We get to hear the legends of Kvothe then read the truth nd make the connections of how things spiraled from realistic to fantastic The way Pat does this is genius In some places you can barely pick out the tropes he is using Murder Go Round after one seuence in Wise Man s Fear I found myself laughing uproariouslys I realized the mythological foundation for the seuence There How Foreign Policy Decisions Are Made In The Third World: A Comparative Analysis are familiar tropes but they re takennd made so new Alcohol Fuels: Policies, Production, And Potential and fresh that you have to peer through several layers of silk to see them for what theyre In other cases there is delightful originalityThose things however lso fail to describe why the books re Cambridge Modern History volumes 1-5 awesomeKvothe is very compelling hero very classical in that he s widely The Heart Of The Hawk (Book 1) accomplished yet marred by single dominating flaw In this case his temper He is witty charming Spices, Saints, and Saracens: The Egyptian Wanderings of a Dominican Friar, 1483 and so wonderfully capable that he s delight to read bout Particularly following much of the current fiction I ve read which seems to take the utmost pains to make certain I don t like nyone I m reading Empire of the Waves: Voyage of the Moon Child about He s noble yet brashnd is clever but inexperienced Which makes him dense on occasion He livesBut even that is not what truly makes these books The Object of Performance: The American Avant-Garde since 1970 awesomeIn the end I think that if I distill why I ve loved these books so much than others it s because of this They re beautiful Wise Man s Fear is beautiful book to read Masterful prose Of Mice and Men a sense of cohesion to the storytelling wonderful sense of pacing None of that is the reason for the wesomeness ny than single dab of paint is the reason why Monet is thing of wonder But if you step back to look nd digest the piece s whole not thinking too much I Was Anastasia about the parts youre left with Choice of the Cat a sense ofweThere is Three Cups of Deceit a beauty to Pat s writing that defies description Perhaps if Kvothe were here he could writen Sparrow Road appropriate song that would capture itBrandonps As this is of note to many of those in myudience I feel that I should mention that this book contains A Banner With a Strange Device: A Novel of Boston a fair bit sex than the previous volume did Patvoids graphic details but there re events in the latter half of the book that some readers may find discomforting review of three parts revisited dawn was coming the keys of laptop lay in stillness to continue review Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World and it was review of three partsthe most obvious part was The Point of It All: A Lifetime of Great Loves and Endeavors a vast echoing uestion made bynswers that were lacking if there had been pages words would have wrapped Yoga: The Art of Adjusting and scatteredcross the sheets of paper beneath nxious hands ideas would have formed nd floated The Neural Basis of Free Will and chased the uestioncross the mind like wisp of summer breeze if there had been to kvothes story he would have played nd traversed cross the four corners of civilisation brushing the uestion way like n unraveling half forgotten dream if there had been third book but no of course there was no third book in fact there were none of these things Locked and Loaded (U.S. Marshals, and so the review remainedcross the internet the noise of distant conclusions Past Destinies and theories were postedcross forums but these ideas were slender s thread with one counterpoint breaking them leaving only mumbling posters If Wishes Were Horses and unsatisfied thinkers but those thoughts faded too leaving nothing but second part of the review waiting like n endless indrawn breaththe third part was not n easy thing to notice if you read long enough you might begin to feel it in the warmth that floods your heart s you fall in love with story it was in the heavy words that lay cross pages reluctantly turned because the end was coming ll too uickly nd it was in the hands of the girl who sat on her bed enchanted typing the first thoughts nd feelings that came to her during the nightthe girl had true brown hair brown s mouse her eyes were bright nd ttentive Rainbow Brite: Starlite Saves the Day and she typed with the sure direction of one who has readnd reviewed many books over time the laptop was hers just A Social History of Modern Art, Volume 2: Art in an Age of Bonapartism, 1800-1815 as the third part Ures And second most of what you did here was travel from place to place doing one thing Kneller's Happy Campers afternother then repeating the cycle Haunted Houses For the Millions again The first book set up so much tensionnd mystery that I thought I d finally get some nswers here but las I did not And I was willing to forgive that Reclaiming Love: Radical Relationships in a Complex World afterll there s still the finale to consider but still give Playing with Fire: How the Bible Ignites Change in Your Soul a girl somethin And though I enjoyed the ride it was lacking in the one thing Ippreciate than The People's Songs: The Story of Modern Britain in 50 Records anything in books suspensend dramatic tension I NEED TENSION Kvothe I need it like I need ir maybe not to that extent but trying to make point here I need to be t the edge of my seat reading one chapter fter The Dawn of Christmas another that gets my pulse racing Don t judge me but I live for narratives filled with bang And what better way to start it off than with Kvothe It s time it s time it s time PS Exercising patience is painful thing nd never My Lady Viper (Tales From the Tudor Court, again An Opinionated looktPatrick Rothfuss The Wise Man s FearBy Eric AllenOne thing I can say for Patrick Rothfuss is that he has great ideas Unfortunately great ideas do not by themselves great story make I have heard rumors that the first book The Name of the Wind took eleven years of revisions nd rewrites to finally get published Whether that is true or not his hard work paid off Since its release the internet hype over the future of the trilogy has been building to monumental proportions Rothfuss has developed n lmost rabid cultlike following of fans yearning to know what happens next The Name of the Wind gave us many mysteries nd few nswersThe first book was fun read that while flawed in terms of story nd character was uite entertaining nd extraordinarily well written It was like the ramblings of n old man talking simply to be listened to Like cake it tastes good but has little nutritional value in it Make no mistake I really enjoyed the first book but s followup to The Light in Our Houses a great book The Wise Man s Fear was insultingly bad We were left with many burning uestionst the end of The Name of the Wind Would Kvothe learn to control the Wind How would he be thrown out of the University Would he ever become n Arcanist Would he find some way to make money Would he ever venge his parents How did he come from the promising youth seeking clues to the supernatural beings that murdered his family to the broken down innkeeper telling the story Would he ever make ny sort of progress with Denna or would my book simply explode while I read it because of the pent up sexual tensionWere ny of these uestions How to Get People to Do Stuff: The Psychology of Persuasion answered or evenddressed in this book Not one So let s take look t The Wise Man s Fear Or s I like to call it The Name of the Wind 2 Kvothe Gets LaidWe begin where The Name of the Wind left off with much older Kvothe now n innkeeper telling the story of his life to the king s Chronicler It is Highland Hucow: Milking Marie a story in three parts told in three days much like the silence that haunts his inn At first I didn t get the whole silence in three parts thing but then I realized the writer was trying to be clevernd failing miserably Call the Fire Brigade: Fighting London's Fires at it As Kvothe begins his story the book switches from third person to first person He begins his next term of schoolingt the University Some of his teachers love him others hate him He s made friends nd enemies Unfortunately we ve lready read this before It seems like the last half of The Name of the Wind has basically been retold here in the first half of The Wise Man s FearLuckily the plot finally intervenes nd Kvothe takes year off from his schooling for Edward Keating adventurend hopefully to fill his pockets with Berlin på 8 kapitel a little money to fight off hisbject poverty An Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City acuaintance conveniently knows of rich Shelley And Nonviolence and powerful nobleman in distant land that is looking for clever young musician to help him win the heart of the lady he has his eye on Fortunately Kvothe happens to be clever young musician ConvenientTo make Cross (Jack Taylor, an extremely long story short he foilsn ssassination plot gains the nobleman s trust nd helps him woo his Lady In The Lady and the Generals: Aung San Suu Kyi and Burma's struggle for freedom a completely pointless tangent he s sent on mission to bring bandits to justice loses himself on Stripped to the Bone a tangent from the tangent when he meets seductress who teaches him how to please women Then the tangent from the tangent takes Trials: On Death Row in Pakistan another tangent tonother distant land where he learns to tangent from group of tangentary tangents but is tangented by yet nother tangent Signs From The Afterlife: How the Other Side can comfort and inspire you after leaving when he tangents upon some young tangents in need of being tangentially tangentedway from wait what s I talking bout gain Oh right I m reviewing book One could say that the entire last half of the book is just one gigantic tangent that has bsolutely nothing to do with nything The Story of My Purity: A Novel and ultimately leads nowhereFalling out with his lordly employer Kvothe returns to school withn Make Mead Like a Viking: Traditional Techniques for Brewing Natural, Wild-Fermented, Honey-Based Wines and Beers arrangement that for his services his educationnd expenses Billie Holiday at school would be taken care of At which point he resumes his school lifes if nothing has happened nd the book ends rather bruptly gain with no climax no conflict nd no resolutionThe good Rothfuss has The Leader an excellent sense of humor Kvothe can be entertainingt times when he s not The Human Sexes acting liken insufferable smartass which is most of the time The world Cannibal Sector 1 and the magic systemre very well thought out The Essential Andhra Cookbook with Hyderabadi Specialities and the different culturesnd races seem very distinct nd real The writing itself is excellent So good in fact that most people don t even realize what god wful mess every other spect of the book is Despite Zohar (5 Volume set) all the bitching I dobout this book it was worth reading t least once for the humor or to see the train wreck for yourselfThe bad Firstly it is very evident that Rothfuss has ABSOLUTELY no respect for women whatsoever Almost every woman in this book is figurative if not literal whore that exists for the sole purpose of pleasuring comforting or otherwise confounding Kvothe News flash Pat women re people too The same s you Transcend: Nine Steps to Living Well Forever and me with thoughts feelingsnd desires ll of their own that do NOT typically revolve round some incomprehensible Pirates, Punks Politics and fantastical yearning to please men Just thought you d like to know Half of this book is copynd paste from the first book The other half has little to no point The Anxious Organization: Why Smart Companies Do Dumb Things and goesbsolutely nowhere There s no conflict there s no suspense there s nothing like Flywheel, Shyster, and Flywheel: The Marx Brothers' Lost Radio Show a normal storyrch There is no climax because the book doesn t build up to nything Like I said Patrick Rothfuss has great ideas but no storytelling skills to pply them to The whole narrative is incoherent Principles of Molecular Biology and nonsensical You have to reward your readers with climactic event or two for sticking with you through the whole book PatFar too much time is spent on characters telling llegorical stories that really have little point or purpose except to take up space in book that is Words to Outlive Us: Eyewitness Accounts from the Warsaw Ghetto already FAR too long for whatctually happens in it They take up huge swaths of the book nd leave the characters with very little in the way of worth fterward The lessons they learn could have been simply taught through other means or much much shorter stories The huge Convict amount of tangents that the story takes makes it feels though the writer made it up Notes on a Nervous Planet as he wentlong It s really so incoherent nd so rambling that I believe this book should have been marketed s collection of short stories than novel The freuent interruptions back to the present day where Kvothe discusses Social Amnesia: A Critique Of Conformist Psychology from Adler to Laing aspects of his storyre Disarmed And Dangerous: The Radical Lives And Times Of Daniel And Philip Berrigan annoyingnd hugely distracting breaking up whatever little suspense that the writer managed to cultivate Not single uestion raised in the first book was nswered or even When Pancakes Go Bad: Optical Delusions with Adobe Photoshop addressed in this book in fact this book picks ups though there were no uestions left by the first book A World Without You and does nothing to either build up the mystery of them or move closer tonswering them It is Her Beastly Stepbrother (Once Upon a Stepbrother) as though the writer completely forgotll of them Battleground Iraq: Journal of a Company Commander and moved on to something elseIf you ve read The Name of the Wind you have no need to read The Wise Man s fear because you velready read it It s basically the same book Trayis and there isn t single thing necessary to the overall story that happens in it When book 3 eventually comes out you could probably pick it up Spoiled after reading book 1nd not have missed Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You a single thing This book was completely unnecessarynd utterly pointlessI have never liked the first person perspective very much It gives Breathe Like a Bear: 30 Mindful Moments for Kids to Feel Calm and Focused Anytime, Anywhere a very narrow view of the worlds you can only see experience nd feel the world through the eyes of single character You have no other views to give perspective I lways find the contrasting views of different characters to give the world nd story Sagebrush Lace a lot flavor than simply following the words of single character However some of my favorite books พบรักท่านแม่ทัพ เล่ม 2 are written in first person It can be done wellnd for the most part Rothfuss does good things with it but when he moves to the parts of the book that happen in the present day he switches to third person มังกรสาวป่วนสี่คาบสมุทร เล่ม 4 and the contrast is jarringnd lmost s distracting Stepbrother, Mine as thectual interruptions themselves Especially because he does not seem to be American Little Magazines of the Fin de Siecle: Art, Protest, and Cultural Transformation as talented in writing third persons he is 66 Galaxie: One Hundred Years of Zeta Beta Tau, 1898-1998 at writing first personRothfuss goes out of his way to shoehorn the title of the book into the story in several placesnd it s really distracting It was like he came up with great sounding title nd then completely drew Observer's Book Of Aircraft a blank on why the book should be called that then dropped couple references in Innovators Prescription after the fact Helso seems to think his readers Investigating 101 (Colby Agency, are idiotsnd freuently talks down to themThe ugly Lots Somebody to Love: The Life, Death and Legacy of Freddie Mercury and lots of sex Therere so many sex scenes in this book that I started to wonder if it shouldn t have had shirtless ripped long haired dude on the cover nd Space Concepts Through Aestheometry a title like Warrior of Passion or some such nonsense from the porn er I mean Romance section of the bookstore Everywhere Kvothe goes womenre throwing themselves Blackmail (Bayou Series at him I wonder what his secret is Must be the Axe body spray In real life no man has women constantly trying to jump his bones simply because he s the main character in the story of his own life Especially not sixteen year olds whore often thought to be younger than that by The Act of Living: Talks on the Alexander Technique appearance That s called pedophiliand most people tend to see that s very WRONG News flash women don t typically think or ct like that If I were The Reluctant Cheerleader (Reluctant Series Book 2) a girl reading this book I think I d find myself highly offended by this It slmost Free Your Child from Asthma as though he s the bearer of the One Wang Yes the fabled One Wang of Power The One Wang to rule themll The One Wang to find them The One Wang to bring them ll nd in the darkness well you know Denna IHAAAAATEFREAKINGDENNAOh my holy hell I hate this character Talk The Naked Kitchen Veggie Burger Book: Delicious Plant-Based Burgers, Fries, Sides, and More about doing EVERYTHING you possibly could in character creation wrong I get that the writer obviously wanted to make mysterious female character for the male lead to fall for someone who euals his own mysteriousness And that sort of thing CAN be done well but here it s definitely NOT You can only drag it out so far before it becomes Pack Obsidian Gold: A Reverse Harem Werewolf Romance (The Seven Mates of Zara Wolf Book 3) annoying distractingnd downright torturous Rothfuss has completely Kutune Shirka and utterly failed in making compelling love interest Why do I hate her so much Because frankly she s just NoX a badly craftednd written character She is bland So much so that Rothfuss should be both highly embarrassed The Cross Of Christ andshamed of her She is boring She is nnoying She tries to be clever but isn t AT ALL She is not realistic portrayal of woman in the slightest bit She serves no purpose to the plot whatsoever nd is blatantly shoehorned in where she does not belong because someone decided that every work of fiction just HAS to have خريف العرب - البئر والصومعة والجنرال a love story in it Her faux mysteriousness is badly written contrived BS that does little butnnoy the reader Highland Courage (Duncurra, and make her even painful to sit through And most importantly shedds NOTHING of value to the story even in the barest possible meaning of the term In short she is completely unlikable in Pelle's New Suit any way shape or form Besides being completely unlikeable neither she nor Kvothect like they give two damns O Melhor Lugar do Mundo é Aqui Mesmo about each othernd their relationship fails completely because it s been dragged out FAR too long Even the most rabid Twi tard would likely Ethan's Story; My Life With Autism agree on that pointSometime in the story SOMETHING has to happen between them You can t just keep building up between two people that honestly have no reason to fall in love with each othernd call it Hardass a love story DO SOMETHING And for the record I do not countn The Köntlicher Files: Mark Samantha argument that hasbsolutely nothing to do with their relationship in ny way to be something happening in said relationship Rothfuss keeps playing up her mysteriousness to such degree that I finally just started flipping through nd skimming the last few chapters with her in them because she pisses me off too much I get it she s terribly mysterious GET TO THE DAMN POINT ALREADY She turns n otherwise entertaining character into whining crying spineless emo stalker Her character is so distracting nd utterly painful to be subjected to that she completely ruins the book Thieves Of Nir all on her own If every other gripe I hadbout the book mysteriously disappeared the presence of Denna lone would have ruined it Worst of ll this painful mess of A Single Tear: A Family's Persecution, Love, and Endurance in Communist China a love story has yet to serveny purpose to the overall plot Oh it may come into play in the third Tamed by the Driver and final book but suffering through this horrible boring emotionlessnd frankly unbelievable bomination for two books leading up to it is sking too much There haven t even been ny hints whatsoever that it may in fact be important later on to what passes for plot in Patrick Rothfuss universe It s The Last Great Game: Duke vs. Kentucky and the 2.1 Seconds That Changed Basketball a contrivednnoying distracting How English Works and frankly painful waste of timeRemove Denna from the series entirelynd it is Chicken Soup for the Alcoholic Soul a much better series I do not know who came up with the rule that in every work of fiction there must needs be love story but guess what Sometimes you really don t need one It becomes superfluous Gay Knights and Horny Heroes: Tales from the Court of King Arthur and takesway from the story instead of dding to it This series certainly would benefit GREAT DEAL without one Why Because Rothfuss doesn t know the first thing bout love which is painfully obvious if you ve read even one scene between Kvothe nd Denna He doesn t seem to understand what love is or how it works He seems to subscribe to the George Lucas version of love Two You can t throw two good looking people together that have no reason to fall in love with each other A Different Spirit and call it love story There is nothing Healthier Together: Get in the Kitchen Agenda 2019-2020 a bit short in ualityPicture The Wise Man s Fear main uoteThe plot of WMF stills simplistic s the previous book started on Day 2 straight fter the end of NotW with Kvothe sharing his life journey to Chronicler with Bast listening to it If you think the pacing of NotW was slow believe me that Rothfuss managed to slow it down even Don t be fooled by my six days reading pace of this tome This is Training Workhorses: Training Teamsters actually one of the slowest paced books I ever read in my entire lifeAre the plotnd pacing bad for the story No it s In the Smoke (Mayne Attraction, actually really great it had the sense of danger that the previous book lackednd it still followed the root of the series I ve In the Smoke always love slow paced or fast paced book eually but for book that s filled with 994 pages Rothfuss could ve done so much with the story especially with its pacing Looking t it from bird s eye view the overall story is fantastic There re some important events that provide information to why the present world is in its state especially the meeting with new entity called Ctaeh This meeting itself dded Becoming Daddy a lot of depth to Kvothe s chroniclend the trilogy s overarching story It s only fter this encounter that I realized why KKC fans re so eager for what events may occur in The Doors of Stone However The Manson File as greats the plot is WMF suffers from the infamous 2nd book syndrome in which there Return To Paradise (Silhouette Special Edition No. 283) are lot of unnecessary emphases on the filler contents The important story Seven Conversations aren t given enough focusnd the filler parts Dasar-dasar Aqidah Menurut Ulama Salaf are given way too many I know the fillers partsre necessary for Kvothe s character development but they could ve been cut down or replaced with something much important to the present story For example compiling from the vailable two book that s round 1600 pages out of those pages Kvothe spent round 600 pages in the University that s the entire length of NotW lready I Southern Fried Weirdness admit I love the time Kvothe spent in the University but I m starting to think Rothfuss had horrible grudge with student tuition Honor and Slavery: Lies, Duels, Noses, Masks, Dressing as a Woman, Gifts, Strangers, Humanitarianism, Death, Slave Rebellions, the Proslavery Argument, Baseball, Hunting, and Gambling in the Old South and student loans those 600 pages Thorne (Book 3) and most of Kvothe s chronicle up to now had to do with settling that tuition rather than giving information on the Chandrian Also The Name of the Wind had Kvothe s chronicle told right from he s 8 years old up to when he s 15 years old The Wise Man s Fear only focused on Kvothe s life until 17 years old that s only 2 years despite havinglmost 400 pages than NotWMy previous point doesn t mean that I dislike the book or saying that it s A Moment of Madness a negative point no it s not I stated that only to emphasize that the plot HAD lot of potential to be engrossing than the current state The worst part of the book for me however should not be surprise to nyone who has read this Vampalicious! (My Sister the Vampire, already Denna This is what made my reading enjoyment of this book decreased Not only Denna s personality encapsulates everything I don t ever want to see in girl Kvothe s hundreds of pages infatuation with her is really tedious nd infuriating to read Kvothe s nd Denna s stupid romance really put Kralen van hoop a sour taste to my enjoyment of the book it was okay in NotW but it only got worse here that I literally face palmed myselft one point For me every time Denna is not in the picture the story became compelling despite how slow paced nd fillery it is it s not n exaggeration to say that Denna is one of the worst heroine of ll time out of ll medium for me Luckily this part is the only problem I had with the book the characters the scarce Murder in an English Village actions music world buildingnd prose still work together in bringing the charm of the seriesKvothe s has Joanne Flukes Lake Eden Cookbook a lot of greatly written character development whether you like it or not it really depends on your preferencesnd patience I personally like it I do think In Deep again his sex spree ever since his meeting with Felurian could be cut down bit Kvothe himself s character is uite complex yes he s The Second Coming (Rogue Academy a genius kind hearted charmingnd talented but t the same time he s lso temperament stupid in love nd made lot of rash decision which kinda eualized his character It s the uestions we can t nswer that teach us the most They teach us how to think If you give man n nswer The Floodgates all he gains is little fact But give him Three Ways to Start a Scandal (Victorian Rebels a uestionnd he ll look for his own nswers The other side characters Bast Simmon Wilem Elodin Auri nd new ddition Tempi continue to captivate me I love their interactions developments Betrayal and can t wait to see how the story concludes for Kvothend them in the last bookThe magic system Sympathy which in my opinion is combination of Voodoo Dolls curse mixed with science received lot of focus here Highland Lover (Murray Family, and I was really enthralled by it To see how it finally utilized in combat ismazing Don t get me wrong s before the ction scenes re really scarce in fact out of two books in total you ll only see round 50 pages of ctions give or take but when it s there it s written really wellPicture Kvothe The ArcaneThe book s focus on music continued to be my favorite part of the series despite lacking in content compared with the other factors this time it s rhapsody that I can t ever get enough of I love how the music were implemented with the world building which I must say is fantastic to say the least Amazing exploration on the lore different cultures from each part of the world nd intricate metafictional stories within stories combined with Rothfuss s highest rank prose the book never fails to capture my ttention when it doesn t have Denna in the plot Anyone can love Touch of a Scoundrel a thing because That ss easy The Echo Killing as putting penny in your pocket But to love something despite To know the flaws nd love them too That is rare nd pure Wind River Rancher (Wind River Valley, and perfect At the end of Day 2 this particular uote summed up exactly how I feelbout The Wise Man s Fear Yes the book has it flaws nd missed potential but despite that I still love this book nd the trilogy I really enjoyed reading it Murder Most Finicky and I will definitely recommend this trilogy tonyone who s looking for n intricately great dult high fantasy book This is going to be included into one of my favorite trilogy of ll time nd Doors of Stone have huge potential to turn it into the number one best trilogy of ll time for me But Dragon Actually as well know Rothfuss pretty much pushed himself into The Complete Jim Meddicks Robotman Monty, Volume 1 a corner with his storytelling decision on this bookTherere way too many things to resolved in Kvothe s legend Le marketing digital pour les Nuls en 50 notions cls and stories from the pastnd he lso has to conclude the present story s well Unless the last book is The Fall of Magic around 2000 pages which it won t be since Rothfuss confirmed thatlready I really don t know how it can have satisfying conclusion but if it can then this will truly be trilogy to remember it Ünlülere Mektuplar already is When you wait few span or month to hear Dark Stallion a finished song thenticipation Measure What Matters adds savor Butfter year excitement begins to sour Kvothe The Name of the Wind How bout 6 years for The Saving Work a book Oh well that particular Door won t be opened for many years to come I predict 2021 or probably nevernyway Overall the unfinished Kingkiller Chronicle is Man'oushe: Inside the Lebanese Street Corner Bakery a fantastic highdult fantasy it had it flaws but the method of storytelling is uniue nd engrossing that you should read it do take into mind though that you re going to wait for LONG time for the conclusion of the trilogy before starting itPicture The Wise Man s Fear by Marc Simonetti You can find this The Day I Owned the Sky and the rest of my Adult EpicHigh Fantasy Patrick Rothfuss Î 1 REVIEW

It all began when Pat Rothfuss was born to a marvelous set of parents Throughout his formative years they encouraged him to do his best gave him good advice and were no doubt appropriately dismayed when he failed to live up to his full potentialIn high school Pat was something of a class clown His hobbies included reading a novel or two a day and giving relationship advice to all his friends
